this week’s prompt:
We all have a folder or notebook with work that’s finished, but not quite done yet. This weekend, dig into a piece that you’ve been meaning to revise. The older the piece, the better. Instead of editing the piece directly. Open a fresh document and rewrite from scratch.
As you revise, think about the reason why you wrote the piece in the first place. Does that still hold true? Or do you feel differently about things now?
What is the crux of the piece now? Rewrite and honor that nugget of truth.
Happy writing!
Pitches and Submissions
Prompted is always open to pitches from writers with something to say about the creative process, creative routines, creativity, or really anything mildly writing-related — including reported pieces and interviews. Got something a little offbeat and weird? Awesome.
Did a Prompted prompt inspire you to write something? Please submit! I'd love to feature it in the newsletter.

musings
Speaking of rewriting. I’m rewriting a microfiction piece and having a lot of fun with it. So we’re in the same boat this weekend if you’re taking on this week’s prompt.
If you’re feeling stuck, I hope it helps open up your creative mind again.
And yes, you’ll notice that a lot of the stuff in the section below lately has been AI-related. It’s because that’s a topic very much on my mind, and one I believe should be on the mind of all artists.

things that caught my eye
Recent watch: Friendship (2024) — I was really excited for this because IMO there are not enough comedy movies being made these days. But I went into it feeling sad, and that was a terrible choice on my part.
